As some of you may know if you've seen my recent uploads, I'm currently working on a new game. Much like my last game, it's heavily inspired by the music I listen to. Also like before, I'm starting by developing the visuals first, then I'll be designing the game mechanics based on the vibe.
So this could change, but right now I'm envisioning this game as a first person dungeon crawler, much like Shadow Tower or King's Field. Alternatively, I do love strategy games so maybe I could go for more of a turn based tactics direction, like X-Com or Fire Emblem. So I'm curious what you think: Which type of game would you be more excited to play set in this dark future goth aesthetic? Also, how does it look so far?

I made a playlist on Spotify of the music that inspired me to start this project, so you can check that out too.

I would recommend playing both game types while you are inspired to work on this project and focus on how you feel. Does what you are doing on the controller feel satisfying?
I feel like if you wanna get very meticulous with lore n such then a fire emblem style combat system would be nice if only for the reason that the player would have time to read move and item descriptions during combat.
If the immediate vibe is more important then realtime would probably suit your game better so there is no disconnect between exploration and combat.

yeah makes sense to think of it in terms of what this particular game calls for, thanks!
